Shot this for my friend's Xmas cards. They wanted something a little different, and quite unenthusiastic. Which, surprisingly is a lot of fun (when you're under the influence).
Merry Xmas.

He who naps in guitar cases
The Bad Plus do a # of jazz'd up covers from artists I revere. Wilco, Tears for Fears, Nirvana, Rush, Pink Floyd (of course). That's really all I need to say, give it a listen:
Such a lush upright bass sound.

The Plastiscene
Listening to Joey Cape & Tony Sly - Acoustic. It's really something to hear Lagwagon & Bad Astronaut songs done up all acoustically, sometimes with completely different arrangements. Couldn't care less for the No Use For A Name stuff on the disc, though.

1979
I love the low saturation of colours in this shot. The film version looks 10x better, though.
I'm glad it's Tuesday, already...

cyclical theatres
Best to listen to peppy, upbeat music when you're feeling down. Hopefully that's the ticket.

Warm Shoulder
Too many photos are shot from the front, and just not enough from the back. That's what I always say.

At the Lake
Off to the lake and back again, with tons of photos to share. It's a white night here in MTL, so I present to you the first of many Manitoba shots.

Teen Fiction
I'm off to Gimli, Manitoba for a week! To hide away, I suppose.
Go see Moon, it's terrific.

Püre
Yep. Sometimes I shoot photos of landscapes. This was a particularly ethereal moment, on a particularly ethereal day. Turns out I can't spell particularly correctly.
We're planning on redesigning the Nation Website, and making it feel more welcoming for shopping online. Ya know, ecommerce style. Thoughts?
Also, my roomie Jacob just picked up an external soundcard in Calgary. What's this mean? We can hook up mics, guitars, more or less any sound device right into our computers. So, expect some recordings in the next few months. Did I say that already on here?
Go Twitter already.

Fatigued
Allergy season sucks.
This was Mia Verko playing at the Fatigue show on Saturday. Our last show with Paul on drums. Time for a transformation!

By way of Scotland
I'm currently taking care of a sick chinchilla. Poor thing broke her leg.
Let's see, what else.
Life is slowing down again *fingers crossed*. Bandmates picked up the last piece needed to start recording, so expect some (good quality) original ditties in the upcoming months.
Oh! And I'm doing a jazz/funk/hiphop radio show tomorrow (Sunday). So make sure to tune in @ 2pm if you want to hear my sexy voice in comparison to my buddy Jeff's sexy voice.
And now, a preview of said radio show:

Connotations
One crazy whirlwind passage of time. Received my first ink, girlfriend's family is visiting, some of my family is visiting, not to mention crazy work contracts and trying to keep up.
Oh fun!
I found this tune from the 1980's. It's where Mariah Carey stole that synth sample from for 'her' god-awful tune "Fantasy".

And so the flight begins...
Quite the terrific weekend, no? I had a wonderful time with all of the various guests who visited our commune.
Oh, and about Star Trek, I love the franchise, I love the characters, but a little bit over the top on effects and overused dialog. Basically, when the audience is clapping every 5 minutes I kind of want to flee the scene of the crime theatre.

Güd mrning y'everyone.
I posted Brett's latest short film on The Splash Fantastic yesterday. Go give it a look-see!
Word of the Day: Prosody: the rhythm, stress, and intonation of connected speech. Prosody may reflect various features of the speaker: the emotional state of a speaker; whether an utterance is a statement, a question, or a command; whether the speaker is being ironic or sarcastic; emphasis, contrast, and focus... Hmmm, seems like it was a good time to switch the song embedding to Grooveshark since Seeqpod's bit the dust. Here's a fun, upbeat tune from a fun, upbeat Finnish band:

fiːˈəʊnə
Pretty happy with how this one turned out, although it looks better in Lightroom than in Firefox for some reason.
Nothing too exciting going on right now. Live as usual 'round these parts.

Introducing: The Splash Fantastic

Hey, so, hi. Sorry for the neglect, but for the past couple months I've been spending all of my blogging time at The Splash Fantastic, our new journal curated by myself and my fellow Carbon Media Design folk.
So go check that out! And when I've shot some more decent photos, I'll make sure to post them on here. Thanks for the support, my terrifically loyal readers!

Judaism and the Bull
Up close shot representing a piece of anonymous found art which resides in our bathroom. Too good not share.
The blog's coming along super swell! And the shop should be online and filling your continent-wide designer vinyl toy needs within the week. I'll post both on here once they're prepped, primed, and ready to bombard.
Now for dinner, then piano all night. Oh, tough life.

The Forge - Elevation
Got a late night call to go shoot a friend's architecture project. Tis a blacksmith studio, in a forest far far away from here.

Another Sunny Day
Was thinking of renaming this to "the saddest little blog in the world", since nobody reads this thing anyway.
Happy VD

The view outside our flat on January 4th, as over 2,000 marched through the streets.

Christmas at the Bergeron Residence
Following my continual trend of noise-ridden cell phone photos...

Anybody else remember this band? Spacehog? C'est bizarre. Takes me right back to Elementary school...

No Cars Go
Quite disappointed that this photo looks smashing in Lightroom, and not so hot when printed or up on the web. Strange.
Update! All fixed. Don't forget kiddos, sharpening in Lightroom can have weird effects.
Aside from all the year end tax stuff which is being juggled in with programming at work, I think I'm managing A-O-K. Definitely more enamoured with the wonderful world of music theory I'm delving in to, not too much all the knick-knackery of musical toys I'm finding for Mac OSX and the Nintendo DS. Somehow another performance has snuck up on me, as the band is setting up shop at Cagibi next Saturday night for the FATIGUE magazine launch party.
Go.

"Tone Great"
As opposed to "Tone Terrible"
I'm realizing that I use photo editing and posting as a method of procrastination.
Just read a terrific article on time management (the "4-day work week" bit caught my eye):
"Side note: I applaud Canada for outsourcing its monkeys."
UPDATE: Turns out that while procrastinating I also get sidetracked by Flickr's massive feature set.
