Long Day + Revenant Play

Twas a grand weekend. We had a mid-afternoon brunch gathering on Sunday, complete with croissant french toast, mushroom + ricotta crepes, deviled eggs... Delicious!

Watched some OG Star Trek last night. The episode where a giant maw-like doomsday weapon is roaming the galaxy, chomping up planets for energy. Nothing tops William Shatner's commanding style, aside from Patrick Stewart's brilliant acting.

Goooo Tuesday!

My trip to Calgary is creeping up ever so quickly. Anyone want to lend me a car while I'm there?

Started watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) last night. Definitely a strange experience. They used some analog effects I hadn't seen on film before, which were kind of jarring and disorienting but get the point across.

Somebody left a Flickr comment for this photo, "Breataking".

...

I dunno about that. But, flattering, nonetheless! Oh, and it was featured twice on the ol' Poutine du Minuit.

Nursing a hangover, working like mad, then off to a play! It's gonna be a wonderful day.

So, apparently you need to possess both a credit card and a driver's license to rent a car. If your spouse has the credit card, and you have the driver's license, you're hooped.

Pretty dumb, huh?

Scratch that, no vacation for me this weekend. Instead, staycation! I get this whole utopian dwelling to myself.

Watched the Portishead: Roseland NYC performance last night. It was quite pleasant, aside from the random shots in film grain which complete take away from the experience. And, Portishead + Orchestra? Pretty dang incredible.

Sounds like we might get away this weekend. Our friend has a cabin out in Ontario, which we're willing to rent a car for if it means getting a quick vacation.

Continual Flattery

I was hoping the dead bird carcass photo would be showcased. I figure that not enough people see such a visceral byproduct of the food chain everyday. Especially if they're reading the blog while eating breakfast.

Lately, I've found both Flickr and Midnight Poutine have become a great way to filter out my work. They're helping me select the best photos for a potential portfolio. It's incredible to quickly be able to gauge people's emotional reaction to various photographs, based on how many views each photo receives or by the comments left from users. Very helpful tools, indeed.

This guy was left in our backyard, we assume it was a raccoon that got her. Do raccoons eat birds?
